Dish Network today released the latest Dish Anywhere update for its iPad, Android, and Kindle apps. According to the official press release, the update will deliver a modernized user interface with new capabilities that augment “the way customers discover, select, and view entertainment.”
Not to be confused with Dish’s forthcoming standalone Web service, or OTT, network, Dish Anywhere is the satellite provider’s version of TV Everywhere, a service many cable and satellite providers have adopted to allow authenticated users (those with a subscription) access to their favorite TV content from PCs and mobile devices while on the move.
Dish Anywhere allows Dish subscribers to instantly watch thousands of TV shows, movies, and clips from connected devices. Dish customers can also log in to unlock even more content from the networks they subscribe to at home, including HBO, Starz, TNT, and more. Hopper with Sling customers can use the Dish Anywhere app to view live, recorded, and video-on-demand (VOD) content at home or on the go from their mobile devices, as well.
According to the release, the new Dish Anywhere “shifts to an image-centric format featuring large programming thumbnails on a flat, dark background, making it easier for users to navigate to their favorite TV shows.”
The functional additions to the updated UI for the Dish Anywhere app include:
This new version of Dish Anywhere for iPad, Android, and Kindle tablets is available now at no additional cost, and Dish says it expects to roll out the UI update to iPhone and Android smartphones later this year.
It’s official. After years of speculation — and many, many leaks — Sonos has debuted its first set of wireless headphones. The $449 Sonos Ace are available for preorder now and will be available starting June 5 in two matte-finish colors: black and soft white.
The Ace are loaded with the kind of tech we’ve become accustomed to seeing on flagship wireless headphones: active noise cancellation, transparency, spatial audio with head tracking, hi-res and lossless audio, and Bluetooth Multipoint. And that makes them head-to-head competitors with the likes of Sony, Bose, and Apple’s top headphones.
The AirPods Max are Apple’s high end headphone offering, and while they come in at a premium price point, they sometimes make some of the best Apple deals and best AirPods deals you can shop. They offer high quality sound that can compete and even best almost anything you’ll find hanging out among the best headphone deals, and they fit right into the Apple software ecosystem if you utilize several Apple devices. While there aren’t often a lot of AirPods Max deals to shop, there are some out there right now. We’ve rounded them up below, and if you’re looking for a premium in-ear headphone solution by Apple you can also check out the best AirPods Pro deals currently going on.
Apple AirPods Max — $450, was $549
The AirPods Max are Apple’s first attempt at a set of over-the-ear headphones. They got a lot of things right. We love these headphones, even when compared against some audiophile options that prioritize sound quality. The AirPods Max have awesome noise cancelling. Everything Apple learned with the earbud-style AirPods works even better with the cup style of the AirPods Max. Along with great ANC comes a great transparency mode. With a twist of the Max’s massive knob, you’ll go from complete silence to feeling like you’re not wearing headphones at all. The audio on phone calls is great as well, and they pair better with the iPhone than any non-Apple headphones could ever hope to.
Alongside today’s launch of its first headphones, the Sonos Ace, Sonos has also quietly unveiled the second generation of its popular portable wireless speaker, the Sonos 2.
The Sonos Roam 1 launched in 2021 and has been a mainstay on out best best Bluetooth speakers list ever since for its portability, excellent sound, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, which allows it to connect to your Sonos network system. The second generation of the Sonos Roam remains largely the same (which isn’t a bad thing), except for a couple of key features.
